KeyGlance reads messy client documents and fills in the return.

Saving your firm hours of work, lowering preparation costs, and creating room to serve more clients. KeyGlance does the data entry itself, on the firm’s own machine. Your preparer checks the work instead of typing it.

Ten things it does before you type a single number. This is the paperwork half. KeyGlance also runs your clients, your pipeline, your deadlines and your invoices. The practice, not just the return.

01  One PDF in, nine documents out

A client sends whatever came out of the scanner. One 21-page envelope in the beta held nine separate documents, and each was read on its own.

Rollover and Auto-fill handle the slips. KeyGlance handles the paperwork they cannot see, and enters it through the surface your program already offers: TaxCycle’s own Excel import, Taxprep Desktop’s own Import Data, ProFile’s own fields, Taxprep Cloud’s own import in your browser and DT Max’s own keyword entry, with every value read back.

Where the time goes

Your software already does half the job

The other half is out-of-pocket medical receipts, T776 rental records, T2125 self-employment logs, paper donation slips

Rollover and Auto-fill

Personal details, address, SIN
T4, T5, T3, RRSP and every standard slip
Last year’s figures, carried forward

This half arrives filled in. It always did.

Built for the week the paperwork lands

A preparer opens one screen. Everything else in KeyGlance exists to get to it, and on it they see the receipt the client sent, the value read off it, the exact spot it was read from, whatever could not be read

Reads a photograph

Crooked, folded, dim, a thumb over the corner. That is what a client sends, and that is what it is built to read.

Splits an envelope

One PDF out of the scanner becomes one card per document, with the page numbers of the original kept intact.

Points at its source

Select any value and it highlights the exact spot on the page it was read from. Nothing asks to be trusted.

Never files anything

It enters the figures into your tax software, and stops there. There is no code path that submits a return, and there never will be.

Pick a plan, then get to work

The subscription is what gets your firm a portal. Reading returns is billed separately at $40 a return, from returns you buy as you need them, so a quiet month costs you the subscription and nothing else.

Questions

The things firms ask first.

What is KeyGlance?
KeyGlance is T1 tax data entry software for Canadian accounting firms, built in Canada. A firm uploads a client’s dropoff: the slips, receipts and statements that arrive in April. KeyGlance reads it, links every value back to the exact spot on the page it came from, and enters it into the firm’s own tax software, TaxCycle, Taxprep Desktop, ProFile, Taxprep Cloud or DT Max. It is used by CPAs preparing personal income tax returns, and it never files anything with the CRA.
What happens if it reads a number wrong?
You catch it, because you are looking at the value and the document side by side before anything is approved. That is the entire design: KeyGlance does not put a figure anywhere until a person has agreed with it. Values it is unsure about are flagged and block approval outright, so the failure mode is a stop, not a silent wrong number on a return.
Does it file anything with the CRA?
No, and it never will. There is no code in the product that transmits a return, not behind a setting and not in testing. KeyGlance stops once the figures are in your tax software. You review the return there and file it yourself, exactly as you do now.
Do I have to change how I use my tax software?
No. AI Assistant, our Windows companion, puts the figures in through each program’s own way in: TaxCycle’s built-in Excel import, Taxprep Cloud’s own import in your browser, and DT Max’s keyword entry. On ProFile it types each figure into the field ProFile names. Every value is read back before it counts as entered, and you open, review and file the return exactly as you do now.
Which tax software does it work with?
TaxCycle, Taxprep Desktop, ProFile, Taxprep Cloud and DT Max today; Cantax is in progress. On TaxCycle, AI Assistant runs TaxCycle's own Excel import. On Taxprep Desktop it runs Taxprep Desktop's own Import Data. On Taxprep Cloud it runs Taxprep Cloud's own import in your browser. On DT Max it uses DT Max's own keyword entry. ProFile has no spreadsheet import on a T1 (File > Import is greyed out), so there it types each figure into the field ProFile names. In every program it reads each value back before calling it done. What has shipped, and when, is on the release notes page.
Which paperwork does it actually handle?
Mostly the paperwork Auto-fill never sees: medical receipts, rental records for a T776, self-employment for a T2125, donation receipts, child care, moving expenses, support payments, RRSP receipts, investment fees, rent and property tax, and more. Standard slips such as T4s and T5s are switched off by default because Auto-fill already brings them in; a firm that wants them read can switch them on in Settings.
Where do my client documents actually go?
They are stored in Canada and read in the United States by Anthropic’s AI model, under a zero data retention agreement: nothing your firm sends is kept by Anthropic or used to train a model. Because the reading happens outside Canada, your engagement letter should say so, and setup asks your firm to confirm it will tell its clients.
What about SINs and personal information?
A client’s SIN and date of birth, if your firm chooses to keep them on the contact, are encrypted at rest and visible only to your own firm. KeyGlance reads figures off paperwork; the rest of the personal details still live in your tax software, which has them from Rollover and Auto-fill.
Am I charged if the extraction is poor?
Returns are bought ahead, at $40 each and less in bulk. One is set aside when reading starts and is only used once the figures are ready for your tax software, so a return you abandon before then goes back to your balance. Correcting values and sending the same return again never uses another.
Is this ready for the 2027 season?
Yes. AI Assistant 1.0 reached every firm in October 2026, and a small number of Canadian firms use KeyGlance today. It is still early, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. Try it on your own files during the free trial: if the numbers don’t hold up, you shouldn’t buy it. That is a genuine position, not a sales line.
